An amazing, heartwarming movie

I have seen this movie twice now, and think it is so touching and brilliant, it brings tears to my eyes every time. The closeness of Julia and Amy is beautiful, and I find myself crying at the screen at Amy's hardships, and at times, such as when Buddy takes Amy's dog, I can't watch because it's too painful. But that only goes to show how well acted it is.

The performance shown by both Kimberley Williams and Amanda and Caitlin Fein is outstanding, as is Alexa's performance. The bond that develops between Amy and Dianne is also beautiful, and unforgettable.

Seeing this has made me want to read the novel, and I would definitely recommend everyone saw this movie.

Follow the Stars Home- Triumph Over Adversity ****

A marvelous film despite the fact that there is so much going on. A doctor, who never married, should have married his sister-in-law. Instead, she is married to his brother, a nice guy who can't take tragic events. He couldn't visit his dying mother in the hospital when he was 12 and years later, he divorces his wife because she is about to give birth to a very sick child who will not last that long. (Supposedly).

The film shows how the mother and grandmother devoted 6 years to the child. A second plot in beautifully inter-connected with the main theme when an older child takes a summer job to help the mother care for the child. This young lady comes from a broken home, where the mother's boyfriend routinely abuses her mother and creates mayhem.

Imagine the mother taking the young girl to San Francisco to see a play and they're hit by a drunken driver. Her ex-husband comes to the hospital and has it out with his brother and there is some terrific scene in the end when it appeared that the couple would reconcile. This story ended extremely well.

This is definitely a story of triumph defeating adversity. It is extremely well acted. It's great to view despite the tragic circumstances involving all.

I love this movie!

While on the surface this seems like a 'girl marries wrong guy' movie, it truly is so much more. The storyline moves a bit too fast, so you must pay attention...very close attention.

After Dianne and Mark find out their baby will be born with genetic disorders, Mark wants to abort the pregnancy; Dianne refuses - Mark takes off. Evidently Mark has unresolved issues about his mother's death in a hospital - but the movie gives very few details or background, so Mark doesn't generate any sympathy from the viewer.

If only he were more like his brother, David (the excellent Campbell Scott) - the soft-spoken, long-suffering doctor who keeps his love for Dianne to himself while helping her to take care of his niece.

The supporting cast is very good, especially Alexa Vega. The ending is a real tear-jerker (get the tissues ready),and my favorite part of the movie.

Some people don't care for these simple movies about triumphing over adversity, but I think it's wonderful - and you will too.
