Ella herself said in an interview that her biggest influence was Connie Boswell, from New Orleans, who was performing jazz in the 1920s. I heard her say it. Don't know why that wasn't mentioned in the documentary. Instead, Louis Armstrong is shownas "probably" being an influence for skat singing.

This is not a comprehensive biography but it captures her aura beautifully. Forget being critical, just sit back and enjoy. As she would say: boy doo bee bwee boy doot doo boop bwee boot dih dee oot hat laht lad dlee oo dah loh dn loh dey oht dey loh dl ah loh bee oh boy oo dee boo bwee oo dee oo boo blap oo dee oo beh.

This documentary is not. A weak strand holds it together, with a whole lot of unworthy interviews, and ending with a star struck unknown rendering ella's tisket tasket without any of ella's flavor.. A lost opportunity..
