Review
The film follows a day in the life of the doctor Elizaveta Glinka, who is in charge of the Just Help Foundation in Moscow, in charge of providing medication and medical assistance to people who are partially or totally outside the health system, a full day of activities that do not give respite and where he deploys the necessary resources to carry them out, just when he is about to celebrate his 30th wedding anniversary.
The biopic genre always has something problematic with its choices: we have those films or series that seek to cover a life (and that many times run the risk of not delving into any of its episodes) and others that take on the challenge of privileging some period of their life or a significant, representative or culminating episode of the portrayed character.
I personally prefer the latter approach, which allows for further insight. And to this subgroup belongs this film by Oksana Karas, which is enough to paint this charming woman (a overwhelming Chulpan Khamatova) who does not hesitate to apply, supported by her collaborators, unorthodox resources if time is short. In this case, she must deal with the intervention of a policeman, Detective Kolesov (Andrey Burkovskiy),a character almost as interesting as she is.
Dr. Liza always intervenes decisively in the face of need, illness and lack, she is personally involved with patients, putting her body in and never condescending. The same determination she exhibits in front of the system and her contacts in power. The film shows some difficult or painful episodes, but almost always manages to avoid the effect, prevailing the unwavering joy with which this woman faces her daily task.
Helpless Russian Propaganda
The movie about very controversial person Elizaveta Glinka, who saved lives, but has become servile to Putin's regime.
Absolutely helpless script, poorest play of Khamatova in whole her career.
