Where's the handsome middle brother & the sexy older brother who plays the drums? Where's Steve Zahn who plays the Father? They make another Wimpy Kid but don't have any of the original players? That's just too harsh. Too different. Too hard to adjust to. I couldn't watch the whole thing.

Plot summary
A Heffley family road trip to attend Meemaw's 90th birthday party goes hilariously off course thanks to Greg's newest scheme to get to a video gaming convention. This family cross-country adventure turns into an experience the Heffleys will never forget.

None of the original cast is in this
Like when you accidentally buy Great Value chips instead of Lays.
This film is unwatchable. I suffered through the 91 minutes, which somehow felt longer than the extended edition of Fellowship of the Ring. The new cast was horrific, the script was aimed at toddlers and the acting was the worst that I have seen in recent memory. While I do not think that the original films are phenomenal, I spent the majority of the film wishing that I was watching one of them. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul lacked charm and felt like when you accidentally buy Great Value chips instead of Lays.
stupidity gets tiring
Greg Heffley (Jason Drucker) is horrified when his embarrassing Diaper Hands video goes viral. His mother (Alicia Silverstone) has the family going on a road trip to Meemaw's 90th birthday party. He intends to make a detour to Player Expo to meet his gaming hero Mac Digby and create a new video to overshadow Diaper Hands. It starts badly when his mom takes everybody's tech. His dad (Tom Everett Scott) is desperate to contact his work. His brother Rodrick (Charlie Wright) needs money to fix his van. His younger brother Manny needs a pacifier. It's a long, chaotic, cross-country road trip.
It's a matter of time when Alicia Silverstone does a silly family movie as the mom. Beggars can't be choosers and this is not choosy at all. It's silly in a bad way. The new cast is less than the original. Rodrick is stupid but in a bad cartoon way. It's a functional family movie up to a point. The birds are one too many stupidity. This should have been a new kiddie version of Vacation. It has more in common with the Vacation reboot. There are heart touching moments and good fun but it's all overwhelmed by the stupidity.
