Now, I saw the trailer to this on a DVD I have. And I was hooked, I had to see this movie. But first, I went to IMDB to see if this was a movie was any good. I saw a lot of bad reviews with a rating of 6.2. But anyways, I rented it, still very badly wanting to see it. I was surprised. This film was really good.

There are a couple notches they could fix up here and there. But over all I loved it.

Jullianne and Mitch are newlyweds who go to a cabin for their honeymoon. When everything is going well, Jullianne asks Mitch if he'd like to go home early, he freaks out and tells her that they're not leaving. After numerous escape attempts, Jullianne always ends up back by the cabin. Now, she knows only one of them are going to make out of there alive.

This film starts off with a young couple getting married, Mitch, (Kip Pardue) and Julianne, (Tara Reid) who recently graduated from high school and comes from a well to do family. During the wedding party there are toasts being made by Mitch and if you listen closely you will find something very strange about Mitch's toast about his father being absent from his wedding. Mitch brings his new bride Julianne to a far away place in the mountains of Montana and a house which is on a very small island. There is a row boat that is the only transportation to their house which is really a very rustic cabin with no comforts of home and no running water. In other words, this couple are going to have a honeymoon with no nice soft beds and matches are needed to start the cooking. As this film moves along you begin to find it very strange and then you start to feel very sorry this couple ever got married. Enjoy.

Looks like a mid-week telemovie and stars Tara Reid beginning to regret her recent nuptials to Kip Pardue, after he goes berserk on their honeymoon, turning out to be a grade-A psycho who's been stalking her, grooming her as his prized possession. He seems to develop an obsessive psychosis as he manhandles her around his 'island' (an idyllic setting surrounded by a lake which is useful, because she has a mortal fear of drowning),controlling her behaviour, opinions and generally engaging in ever-escalating forms of domestic violence. Initially surprised, she gradually becomes aware he's not the man she thought he was, by which time, it's too late and she must fight fire with fire in order to escape "devil's island".

Momentum is present, the gradual escalation too, but the film never quite manages the "psychological thriller" for which it appears to be aiming. Tara's make-up and hair never seem to match the ferocity of Kip's brutal attacks, his creepy, emotionally detached persona done reasonably well. If you can't cop Tara, or for that matter Kip, then you're in trouble because they're essentially the entire cast, although Meredith Baxter-Birney has a very minor role.

I've read that this is an independent film which explains the sometimes amateurish look and feel, though given the film's small scale, this isn't necessarily a deal-breaker. If you can suspend disbelief for long enough to accept the human headline, minor celebrity of Tara Reid attempting a vaguely important role, then this will be sufficient to pass the time.
