I didn't have high hopes seeing the low score but gave it a go after watching the trailer. As can often be the case, I was worried the trailer showed the best bits with the funniest jokes but this wasn't the case for Deadly Cuts. The script was not only sharp and witty but the acting was fantastic too. Maybe some of the humour is lost on people outside of Ireland!? Yes, it's "just" a fun, dark comedy .... But it's bleedin deadly!
Plot summary
Michelle runs a hair salon in a working-class suburb of Dublin. They are attacked from all sides. Deano, a local criminal, is leaning on them for protection money. A local councilor is threatening to demolish the street and put up a tourist hotel. Just when things couldn't get much worse, a dreadful misfortune pushes Michelle and her stylists into vigilantes. All may be fixed if they can win an inconceivably high-profile hairdressing competition.

Bleedin' deadly
Stupendous!
Don't know why the ratings are so low. The movie is inspiring for all. Even being Asian I could understand every word ... love the Irish accent ... Performances were great ...
Boring...
I have to admit that when I read the synopsis for the 2021 Irish comedy "Deadly Cuts" from writer and director Rachel Carey, then it seemed like a movie that could prove to be enjoyable and funny.
Well, it could have, but it wasn't. "Deadly Cuts" was a really slow paced movie with a subpar storyline. And I found it to be lacking greatly in contents, and I wasn't really the least bit entertained by the movie's plot, nor were I enjoying what I was seeing on the screen.
The storyline told in "Deadly Cuts" just fell short of catching my interest, and it was a struggle to sit through this ordeal. So it was a swing and a miss for me.
I will say that the acting performances in the movie were adequate, but the actresses and actors were just severely limited by the restrictions of an inferior script.
If you enjoy comedies, then "Deadly Cuts" is not a movie I would recommend. The movie failed to make me laugh even once. In fact, writer and director Rachel Carey didn't even manage to put a smile on my lips.
My rating of "Deadly Cuts" lands on a generous three out of ten stars.
