Painful to watch but I still love David

Yes it's true most of these other reviews are correct...this was very cringe. I actually felt really embarrassed for him. He kept squeezing the bridge of his nose between his thumb and forefinger which made me think maybe he had some kind of headache and was just pushing through...I hope that's what it was because otherwise this was just completely lazy on his part.

I watched Rules of Engagement and I think "Rusty" was some of his best work. He was consistently hilarious in that. His body of work overall makes me laugh really hard but I think this was just thrown together. I'm not really sure why they even bothered...it was in Minnesota which makes me think he really wanted to do something but he knew he wasn't gonna be selling out any major venues in a big city so they just decided to do it in that area for whatever reason.

If you aren't familiar with his quirks and his funny noises and actions this probably won't make any sense to you but I personally find him hilarious. He just strikes me as somebody who would be a laugh a minute if you were around him in daily life. He sees the absurdity in things and can poke fun at everything and that's the kind of person that makes me laugh.

It's a shame this was the material he decided to go with because it was not really anything original and he was talking about Covid and if we all know one thing it's that nobody wants to hear about it one more second...not even as comedic material so I kept waiting for it to get better. I would say it didn't really pick up until about halfway through and then it actually was pretty funny in some parts.

You do have to be a fan of his because if not a lot of his quirks won't make sense. I think even he knew the material was bombing because he kept taking sips of water and that became distracting. I just don't think he was giving it his all and it really showed. I still think he's funny but if you aren't a diehard fan you can skip this.

Fame is wasted on the famous

You know the old saying, "youth is wasted on the young", I'd like to add to that saying: Fame is wasted on the famous.

David Spade has had a very long career.in the entertainment industry, but you wouldn't know it from watching this comedy special.

It's like he wrote a set around 2003, and then just never updated it since then. Dick pic jokes, really? In 2022?

The audience was as low energy as David's performance, it does not bode well for his tour if this Minnesota quiet audience was the best taping they had.

David has dated some of the most beautiful women in the world, is best friends with Adam Sandler, spent more time with Chris Farrelly than any other human, but jokes about waiters overcharging for fish is the best he can do for anecdotes about his life. What a waste of fame.

Was he always funny?

When I first listened to this I thought maybe it was older material. It was talking about the pandemic and it turns out it is 2022 material? I pushed through the act and found some of it funny and most of it not funny. I know David has had his highs and lows, but it this isn't one of his highs. He still has a bit of laughs, but as I listen to it in the background I could skip over most of it. His best thing is his imitations of other actors.
