Just watch Defunctland's version

Go to YouTube and watch Defunctland's version of it. This doc was a slog to sit through, and I felt like Kevin Perjurer had a more entertaining look at the whole thing, and his is only about 30 minutes.

A Doc Almost as Irresponsible as the Park Itself

"True" libertarianism is heartless. Unchecked, free-market capitalism is heartless. Eugene Mulvihill is heartless. This movie is heartless. You're better off reading the Wikipedia page on this undeniably fascinating piece of American folklore than watching this confused, irresponsible, tonal disaster.

Reading is Fundamental

I watched this movie a while ago and pretty quickly forgot most of the details. I happened to read a book about it written by Andy Mulvihill, who was the son of Gene Muvihill, the owner of the park. Of course, comparing a book to a movie always ends up the same--a book will have many more details. But it made me want to watch the documentary again. I have to say, you don't really get a good sense of why this park came to be from the film. It also doesn't have anyone to talk about what motivated Gene Mulvihill, which I now think is an essential component in forming an opinion on the subject. So my grade for the movie is a 5--it has some interesting moments, but I really didn't internalize the details of the story until I read the book. It's an interesting enough bit of history worth investigating, but if you want something that gets you thinking about your outlook on life, skip the film. Read all about it.
