A Chinese action film; A story about a Chinese IT engineer who goes to North Africa to help his company win a telecommunications contract. A French spy tries to thwart their bid and control the mineral resources of the country too. This actioner, highly tinged with Chinese propaganda, is about unfair bidding practices in global telecommunications contracts. It is ineptly directed stuffed full of plot. The acting is hammy and unconvincing and the dialogue is hard to follow. All in all, it falls short both in technical and narrative spheres.

Baffling and absurd
I do not drink
The action takes place in Tunisia where there is hostile bidding for the nations telecommunications. There is also a civil war going on lead by Mike Tyson. The "China Salesman" was a derogatory term used by the competition. The production was a Chinese propaganda film with our Chinese hero being the tech guy who gets shot at, ran over, and blown off a tower. He is cheered by Africans when he flies the Chinese flag.
Steven Seagal has a small role. There is an initial fight with Tyson who refuses to drink whiskey or urine. The fight was laugh out loud funny with the slow motion and speed up scenes to conceal the fact the guys can't fight anymore. Tyson does get an ear slap/flip.
The film has very hard to watch. They had trouble with action scene and as in all Chinese films, they don't know how to have a proper romance.
Guide: F-word. No sex. partial nudity?
Woeful
Continuing my plan to watch every Steven Seagal movie in order, I just watched China Salesman (2017)
As usual with this type of dtv fare, the cover and trailer make it look like Steven Seagal and Mike Tyson are the leads, and both men are barely in the film.
This is terrible, and not because of the lack of Seagal and Tyson, no it's because of its woeful (supposed plot) cliche dialogue and is awfully acted!! I didn't even make it to the 40 minute mark.
