An Unfunny Embarrassment to the Gay Community

I was looking forward to seeing this movie largely because of the producers other films in the hype commercial. So I went ot a pre-screening

I guess producing isnt about talent.

This flick is HORRIBLE.

NO ONE woud say this is a good film.

It's poorly directed, unfunny and down right dumb. It's also boring. NONE of this has to do with the gay theme. The movie simply is horrible. And an embarrassment to the gay community.

And is Debra Messing so desperate to cling to relevancy that she had to be in this movie?

It didnt work. You attached yourself to garbage.

Whomever wrote this should never work again. They are untalented. Worst Movie So Far this Year.

Don't Speak For Me

As a 56 yer old gay male I found this time to be very embarassing and stereotypical. It does not represent me or most of the gay males I know orr have known throughout my life, even after living in San Francisco for 23 years. It's just in bad taste in so many ways. The drug use, the overblown effemininity, rampant sex . All of it was just discouraging.

I now see that those involved are crying phobia and victimization. That certainly isn't the case. They made a mediocre film about a very streamlined and targeted demographic aimed at a limited interest audience. Plain and simple.

It's a simply boy meets boy loves story wrapped in sad attempts at humor by marginalizing everyone who isn't a male even though 90% of males in the film act nelly and effeminate. I really thought the gay community was past this. But the creators of this horror show have shown me that we haven't.

I lost 90 minutes of my life.

If this was supposed to be the definitive big screen gay comedy, it failed. As with almost every film, it's primarily due to the script which was boring. Luke Macfarlane is a good drama school trained actor, I've seen him in many productions. Billy Eichner seems to play the same character on and off screen, loud and fast talking. He's 6'3" tall, he doesn't need to be loud. He's a motor mouth in this film, like he's on amphetamines which gave me a headache.

There are so many good gay dramas and comedies with good writers and directors who make small films that generally get distributed via streaming services. I'm thinking of films like, "The Man with the Answers", "God's Own Country", "Call Me By Your Name", "Handsome Devil", "4th Man Out"....

Going to see a movie or a play is expensive when you add up all the costs, it's more than just the admission ticket. People are now more discriminating and check reviews before they go. A lot of people who saw this film didn't like it and they let their friends know and posted reviews.
