Who knew Vince Vaugh could pull this off?...

Wow! That pretty much summarizes this entire movie.

This movie was quite an unexpecting surprise. And I dare say that this was without a doubt the best movie that I have seen Vince Vaughn in, and he was just phenomenal in this role.

The storyline in "Brawl in Cell Block 99" was quite good, and it grabbed my interest from the very beginning. The movie didn't let go until the very end, so you will be entertained from start till end.

There was a good flow to the storyline, which really helped to speed the movie along and make for a good, wholeheartedly movie experience.

They had a great ensemble of cast, which included Don Johnson and Udo Kier as well, aside from Vince Vaughn.

The special effects in "Brawl in Cell Block 99" were adequate, but the prosthetics especially the faces were horribly fake. And it was painstakingly clear that it was prosthetics being used. But luckily, this is the type of movie that is not overly dependent on having bedazzling special effects to function as an entertaining movie.

The ending, however, was sort of a slap in the face, to be blunt - pardon the pun. But, a good and entertaining movie movie nonetheless.

More frightful than most horror movies. A very surrealistic, brutal n engrossing movie.

I saw this for the first time recently. This movie was on my radar for a long time.

Having enjoyed S. Craig Zahler's Bone Tomahawk, Asylum Blackout n Dragged Across Street, i had huge expectations n this movie went beyond my expectations.

This movie is very engrossing n shockingly brutal.

This one has some witty dialogues n some humor.

Vince Vaughn gave a terrific performance n his character is amazeballs.

"Pretend like u r talking to god".

"He doesn't smell like nachos".

Maximum security hell

Bradley Thomas (Vince Vaughn) is a car mechanic who is fired from his job. He is a big man with a tattoo on the back of his head and a former boxer. He finds out that his wife may had been cheating on him, we see him tear a car apart with his bare hands. In order to support his wife Lauren (Jennifer Carpenter) he works for drug dealer Gil (Marc Blucas.)

Working in drugs has bought Bradley financial success and Lauren is pregnant. Against his better judgment Gil has got him involved in a drug deal with some Mexicans. The deal goes wrong and the Mexicans get involved in a shootout with some cops. Bradley could had walked away from it all but comes to the rescue of the the policemen.

Now under arrest, he refuses to rat out Gil but in prison, Bradley finds out that his pregnant wife is in danger. He needs to get out of his current jail and get placed in a maximum security prison to take out an imprisoned crime boss. To do this he needs to give up all hope of doing his time quitely and get involved in violent confrontations with the guards.

The maximum security prison is run by a sadistic warden (Don Johnson) who does not tolerate prisoners that try to buck the system. He dishes out cruel punishment to Bradley but Bradley is a man on a mission.

Brawl in Cell Block 99 starts off slowly, even when Bradley lands in prison it seems he is just going to do time the best he can until the bad guys get to him.

Once the violence starts it is bone crunching as the film goes into grindhouse mode. Bradley is a man with a moral code, he does not want to beat up the prison wardens but is driven to it in order to save his unborn baby. It is silly at times when you see Bradley stamping on people with prison issue soft shoes. The film benefits from an earnest performance from Vaughn. He delivers violence with dignity.
