Another Blumhouse film, this time around a stab at the serial killer genre starring Seann William Scott. Truth be told I've always enjoyed Scott's performances, even in lowbrow fare like the AMERICAN PIE franchise, so it was interesting to see him in a much darker role here. He's fine, but the film itself is the pits; an extremely low budget production that ladles in the gore but lacks consistent storytelling and narrative construction. Instead, it feels quite exploitative, like a 'torture porn' movie; the deaths are repetitive and the ending twist as predictable as they come. You don't learn anything here, and would be better off watching one of the many true classics of the genre.

Plot summary
In this crime horror thriller inspired by the style of 70s horror films from directors like Brian De Palma and Dario Argento, an introverted husband and father named Evan, who works as a high school guidance counselor, becomes a brutal vigilante serial killer who targets all those who abuse the children who confide in him, especially if the abusers are their parents.

Killing is Wrong. M'Kay.
Evan Cole (Seann William Scott ) is a high school social worker and was abused by his father. He is a new father and is uncomfortably close to his mother (Dale Dickey). His students have issues with adults and he makes the problems go away.
This is another vigilante film. Evan is played as a cold fish. The characters were boring at best which ruined a half-decent story line.
Guide: F-word. Nudity (Christie Herring)
A line to follow (?)
The movie is known (infamous even?) for changing most peoples perspective on Sean William Scott. Yes he was a great comedy character (and can be any time I reckon) when he played Stifler - multiple times. He defined a role - he changed that role/character and comedy movies with it. Not just him mind you - but the most of American Pies outcome.
And the same can be said here too: while it is a powerhouse performance from Scott, the "bit players" are the ones that are helping to elevate this to an even greater height. Also be aware that this is quite bloody and violent in its uncut form. I've seen more extreme movies, but I reckon if one has not been at a birth of a human ... well let's say they might be shocked (I wouldn't think traumatized, but I can't speak for the really squeamish - no judgement, we are all different).
If you can dig that all - the movie throws more than a punch - and while I'd say I was expecting that ending ... I still cherish it. I'm not saying I agree with it - but this is a movie. And in the overall sense of the movie ... it is more than well made. Morality seems fluid here ... or at least you have to leave certain things at the door ... or maybe not. Not sure how you will feel about the movie, if you aren't entirely sure about the main character ... but that is the magic and the draw of the movie ...
