This is a different kind of Barbie movie, but in a good way. With the focus on Chelsea, you get to see a whole range of emotions from her, whether funny, sad, or sweet. The movie is written more for those close to her age group, yet never talks down to them. There's a fun sense of adventure and fantasy, all topped off with great messages about the value of family and how it's great to be a kid.

Plot summary
Excited about celebrating her 7th birthday, Chelsea embarks on a fascinating cruise adventure along with Barbie and the rest of the Roberts family. However, after crossing the International Date Line, Chelsea realises that they skipped an entire day instead of gaining one hour. Now, to save the day, the girls visit an enchanted nearby island, where beautiful surprises, new friends, and exciting experiences await them. But can they save the lost birthday?

Such a funny movie. The whole plot is just so sweet and fun. A great one!

Yes, this is a children's movie.
I could definitely see a child enjoying this movie. As an older viewer, I really liked a few of the smaller animation details. The characters were funny enough and I managed to laugh a few times. It's an average kid film: not too obnoxious. I wish the music were a bit better, but I think the animation makes up for that. The characters were all cute and pleasant to look at.
Overall, it was a bit forgettable.
