Terrible!

Bad acting. Bad writing. Bad movie. Bad bad bad. How it got a 4.2, only by fake reviews. I wish I could get my life back watching this. Now I have a bad headache.

Neuralink is the Devil/Just Say "NOPE!" to Halo

Last night I watched an interviewer ask Elon Musk about his "competition with Jeff Bezos", and I scoffed because the notion of them being in competition seemed ludicrous: Amazon provides wonderful low-priced consumer-goods to millions of people worldwide, while Musk builds toy cars for billionaires that the bumpers fall off of when it rains; there's no comparison except that they're wealthy.

Then I watched this movie.

It's a low-budget gem with a 1980s basic-cable look & feel, but very modern in its biotech-horror subject matter. The performances feel slightly forced and campy at first, but they are also very committed and will win you over if you give them a chance. The script/story was good enough for a larger budget production, but all the elements eventually blend together nicely here. Paul Sorvino is looking great for his age & plays a portly Faustian "Lou" character whom dedicated fans of Horror will recognize immediately from his wardrobe & name. A family gets a high-tech security system that is a blend of all the creepiest surveillance & biotech currently marketed. The chaos builds nicely, with moments varying from campy & comical to downright disturbing.

This made me remember that Musk and Bezos actually are a valid comparison, not in cars & consumer-goods, but in Halo & Neuralink, two creepy bio-manipulation programs competing for control of the masses, one brain at a time. But the competition is an illusion; no matter which tech options you choose, you will be serving the same master, your government. Musk & Bezos' "competition" (or Apple vs. PC or iPhone vs. Android, or Democrat vs. Republican) is just contrived melodrama to distract the masses from who is really controlling it all.

If you're a fan of binge-watching, this will make a nice themed-binge watch with Mom & Dad, Possessor, The Signal, & CELL. If you really want to freak yourself out, first do a bit of googling about MK ULTRA (Amazon Prime has some nice documentaries on it, or The Fifth Estate on youtube is a good historical source for reporting done at the time it was exposed) & the history & motives of previous attempts by your own government to implement these types of technology, then ask yourself: "With modern technological advances, what would those projects look like today?" Truth is always creepier than fiction. Always.

10? Really????

Many of the reviews here are 10? Huh? What movie did they watch? Lol

But to give it a little credit, I did like the story idea, somewhat original. The lead actors weren't bad either. But the plot was all over the place and the flow and direction weren't great. The movie was definitely low budget but the team made the most of it.

However this is definitely a B movie, no way a 10.

And as mentioned it has some original ideas and keeps you hooked to see the end. The end had a bit of a good twist too, so wait for that.
