Kind of movie which should be deleted from every movie data base. Its makers should be charged with penal offense. Seems to be filmed with some left over porn sets and horrible actors. Just move on from this torture.

Nifty sci-fi opus
Billionaire Alexander Biggs (nicely played by Marshal Hilton) brings an alien being home from a recently discovered new planet on his private spacecraft. After finding out that said alien shares DNA with former Special Forces soldier Jack Adams (a solid and likable performance by Gary Daniels)),Biggs tracks Adams down to convince Adams to take part in a top secret project.
Director/co-writer Asif Akbar relates the convoluted, but still absorbing story at a steady pace, maintains a serious tone throughout, takes time to develop the characters, and wrings a lot of production value from the modest budget. Moreover, the sound acting by the able cast keeps this movie humming: Courtney Akbar as Jack's sweet daughter Laura Lee, Louis Mandylor as the benevolent Viktor Khol, Michael Pare as Jack's old buddy Allen Smith, Spice Williams as the compassionate Dr. Katherine Rice, Omi Vaidya as the jolly Dr. Ramesh, Chris Cope as the bumbling Dr. Cope, and Luke Gregory Crosby as a gentle elf-like alien. Both Erik Schroder's majestic score and the sumptuous widescreen cinematography give this picture the look and feel of a much bigger film. A cool flick.
Don't get suckered in believing this to be a Sci-Fi movie...
Right, well I was expecting a lot, wait, let me rephrase that. I was expecting this to be a Sci-Fi movie, given the movie's poster/cover. And while I am not one usually overly keen on Sci-Fi movies, I did decide to watch "Astro" because it had Dominique Swain on the cast list.
Indeed, well this movie had only fragments of Sci-Fi to it, and they were washed away by a massive tsunami of pointlessness. This movie had nothing that even resembled much of any storyline to it. I started to lose interest in the movie not even 10 minutes into it. And by the time I was 38 minutes in, I gave up. Nothing, and I mean that literally, of any worth or interest had happened in those long, dreadful and painful 38 minutes.
The acting in the movie was questionable at best, and Dominique Swain was not even a supporting actress here. She was there merely for the sake of her name.
As for the effects in the movie, well let's just give them credit for trying. But the scene with the shooting in the Middle East was just hilariously bad. The weapons sounded like children's toys. And it was so far from being believable as it could possibly be.
The characters in the movie were essential cardboard cut outs with no proper dialogue, no character development, no real background stories. And with the aid of some questionable acting and horrible dialogue, the characters were just as pointless as the lacking storyline was.
I am not returning to finish the rest of the movie ever, because it had absolutely zero appeal.
