Rent this, not buy

Arizona sets out to say something about the housing boom and then the subsequent collapse in 2009 which went hand in hand with the global financial meltdown.

However this black comedy thriller has no relevant social message to convey.

Sonny (Danny McBride) is a guy whose life is going down the toilet because of failed business ventures, lousy marriage, he is in debt of all kinds and about to lose his house. When he turns up to his sleazy estate agent's office to complain, Sonny accidentally ends up killing him.

However he has to deal with the witness, Cassie who worked for the amoral estate agent. However Sonny ends up killing more people, he becomes demented and then goes after Cassie and her daughter who he also kidnapped.

The film becomes absurd. Sonny has a never ending supply of bullets. Cassie needs to watch Zombieland and the importance of the double tap. When you hit your assailant, hit him again and again. Not just run away and leave him behind with his gun.

Arizona aims to have some kind of Coen Brothers dark humour and violence. Instead it just becomes grotesque and feeble. McBride is just not a good enough actor to show any sympathy for his character, he just ends up being psychotic.

Where Life Imitates vacation.

The film takes place in Harding, Arizona in 2009, during the collapse of the real estate market. Cassie (Rosemarie DeWitt) is real estate agent at Bartka Realty and is about to lose her home like everyone else. Sonny (Danny McBride) is an unhappy customer who shows up at her office and accidentally kills Seth Rogan in a cameo. In order to cover things up, he kidnaps Cassie and things escalate to the point of inane.

I found this to be a laugh-out-loud black comedy. I loved the stupidity of Sonny, a man who says, "I'm sorry. I am really a good person" as he kills and kidnaps people. I was confused by one scene where it was very clear they were driving on the wrong side of the road and opposing traffic passing them on the right. What was that all about?

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Conclusion, negative reviewers have no sense of humor

The amount of people that hate this movie is just staggering as I thought Arizona deserves a much higher rating. I know there are alot of people with no sense of humor at all and it seems they all watched this movie and felt the urge to review it afterwards. Arizona is a dark comedy, and a good one. Everything that can go wrong goes wrong. It simply starts with an accident and escalates quickly into a murdering spree. The cast is great for this movie. All good funny comedians that made me laugh alot in the past. Some have only small parts like Seth Rogen and Kaitlin Olson (It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia) but even in their short appearance they made me laugh. Danny McBride and Rosemarie DeWitt play the major characters and they did a good job. Danny McBride (from Vice Principals) has just one of those funny faces, he'll make me laugh in a blink. The story is very easy to follow, it's dark and funny, and very entertaining. I honestly can't understand what people don't find entertaining in this movie.
