Once again friends reunite even though many are annoying people and not all get along. (Perfect set up for a college reunion of camping in the mountainous forest.) Randomness then ensues. Main character appears to be on the autism spectrum and so he constantly carries camera. Viola! Another found footage film. Small element of crazy local, some spiritual altar site in the woods, and after yet more dumb decisions made by the cadre of arrogant and ignorant characters. Evil is unleashed. And cut as the film ends with the abruptness that is now standard for this genre of film. I've stopped watching worse films, but I have enjoyed other films of the same ilk much better.
Plot summary
ALTAR is the terrifying story of a group of former college classmates who get lost driving to a college reunion camp out in the Sierra Nevada mountains. After stopping for the night, they stumble onto something much darker. They must battle to escape the evil they unleashed to not only save their own lives but their souls as well.

Pretty standard fare.
Another Ensemble Cast...
... of idiotic characters. We have the requisite band of "friends" heading off to some wilderness adventure/class reunion. Somehow, our intrepid band of idiots become separated from their overall group and end up setting up camp with a friendly couple. Over and over again, someone in our merry band makes some kind of remark about having seen horror movies, and not doing the stupid things that they've seen in horror movies, and yet what do they do?
They drive on in a direction that they know nothing about, in a car with known mechanical issues.
They shoot a person making a threat, and immediately drop the gun to the ground.
They separate in the dark.
The absolutely most annoying thing about this movie is the character, "Bo". He supposedly has a "touch of Asperger's", but he comes across as perhaps the most cloying, clingy, whiny, sniveling wimp in the history of cinema. He whimpers, wheedles, whines, and mewls through virtually every line that he has. Marshmallows are tougher than "Bo". I was hoping that he would get killed off just so that I wouldn't have to listen to him snivel any longer.
Do yourself a favor and pass on this piece of trash.
No redeeming qualities
Bad writing and nothing much in way of a plot at all. Props looked like they were from Spirit Halloween. Not even entertainingly bad.
