Predictably dismal or is that dismally predictable?

From the moment it starts to the final minute, this movie feels like it was written and directed by people with no idea how to create a story.

The scene opens with our five intrepid adventurers getting out of the car to all stand in silence looking around. Who does that?? Are you honestly telling me that's how five individuals would act after a long car journey? Then we get the completely unsubstantiated 'feed' lines the characters use to try and set the scene like "I've just never seen trees look like this" when looking at a perfectly normal woodland scene, and you soon start to realise that because the director and actors are unable to convey any sense of atmosphere whatsoever that they have to force it all with badly delivered dialogue.

The plot continues to lurch along with the acting being more wooden than the trees! Artificially creepy music and sound effects do nothing to bolster the atmosphere which is sadly lacking and you start wishing the actors would relax and get in to character rather than sounding like they're just reading the script... and so it goes on with our heroes simplistic plot being rammed down the audience's throat with every sentence. We're 12 minutes into the film and we get "Let me get this straight. You brought us out on a camping trip, to an RV site owned by your dead, oh I'm sorry, missing uncle who's some frikkin tree nut alien lover?". If that line isn't broadcasting at full volume exactly what's going to happen, well they may as well have had subtitles flash up on screen saying 'Spoiler Alert!' because the characters delivery is about as subtle as a kick in the groin with a diver's boot!

Cut to a woman grabbing a branch, followed immediately by a spinning green circle and then the sky is pink and she feels the need to say aloud "Where am I?". Oh please, you're in one of the lamest sci-fi flicks to ever stumble onto our screens!

Horrible home video, where the best part is the cover art

It's just bad. Bad camera work, bad sound mixing (the ambient sound is louder than the dialogue when they are outside, and the background track when they go for a walk sounds like relaxation and massage music). Bad acting, where many things they say feel unnatural.

At the beginning of the movie, the driver sees that they have reached their destination, and turns the wheel left, car is shown to go right.

The group is going into nature, far away from civilization. They even mention that there is no phone reception. Guess they didn't go far enough, because the next morning a (way too young) sheriff stopped by their trailer, which is presumably his normal patrol route. The sheriff then dumps exposition in a creepy way, talking as if he is half asleep.

In one scene, as the gruup is walking through the forest, one of the group separates a little to go pee. The group notices that he is gone and starts calling his name. It's sundown when this happens. He yells in their direction that he is peeing, and they continue walking slowly for him to catch up. He follows them presumably right away. By the time he catches up to them, it's completely dark.

Another scene. They are walking through the forest at night. Should be dark, but it's so illuminated that you can clearly see the colors of the clothes in one scene. I know what you're thinking, it's strong moonlight. First, they show that it's a crescent moon in the sky. So that's out. Second, the shadows are to their sides, although no one is holding any source of light.

They knew they are going for a camping trip in the middle of nowhere, but they brought no food, no snacks, no drinks.

The speed at which they accept unnatural things is unrealistic. A girl tells the group that a tree was wailing as she touched its branches, so she and two guys go out to find said tree. Looking for a tree, in a forest they are new to, at night, yeah. Of course they find the tree. The girl touches it again and talks to it through a vision. This happens in front of the two guys who come with her, and they patiently wait next to her, not concerned that she touched the tree and suddenly become unresponsive. She snaps back, and despite knowing that she was right next to them the whole time, when she says she spoke with the tree, they accept it without question.

Then, one of the guys touches the tree and he disappears. He is brought to the same place as the girl was in her vision, but she just had a vision, while he was transported? Imagine this. You are transported to another location. It's daytime although you touched the tree at night. There is a creepy person with their back turned towards you, and it speaks with a distorted voice. Would you casually walk up to it and say something along the lines of "Yooooo, what is this place? Hey you, what are you doing there?", because that is the fear portrayed by the guy. (The person in the vision is painting with a brush, and what we see is a sketch made with either crayon or coal. Details, who cares, right?) The guy sees the face of the painter, and gets freaked out, and then he tries to escape the vision...by running 3 steps away (the painter is still in screen),turning to the camera, and trying to mimic, very badly, that he is hitting an invisible force field, as if he knew it was there. He didn't try to run, pretend he hit on something, try to touch it, and then hit it. No, he turns towards the camera, clenches his fists, and starts banging air... Yeah, they didn't have money even for a plexiglass to put for him to bash against, so he swings his arms in the air...at angles that would imply there is nothing there...

Back to the guy and girl who were with him. They notice he disappeared in a second of them not watching. After calling him maybe two times, they decide to go back to the trailer and think of a plan. What? That's not logical! When someone disappears right in front of you, you don't go away, increasing the chances of not finding them.

They return to the trailer and speak to the sheriff, who had come over before the 3 set out to look for the wailing tree. Despite knowing the trees are dangerous, he didn't warn them when they said they will go look for it. Then, when the two return and explain that one of them has gone missing, the sheriff says they shouldn't have done that, and he will go back to the station to look for volunteers to look for the missing person. NO ONE of the 4 people stop him to confront him of the fact that he knew the trees are dangerous without warning them, or how he even knew that they are dangerous.

Then there is a super corny rap that really doesn't fit with the tone the movie is trying to go for. It's dark, someone disappeared, the remaining members of the group are panicked...rap song, mentioning the title of the movie...plays in background.

The supposed gf of the guy who went missing goes out to look for him citing that she HAS to find him, no matter what. Why? Since the beginning of the movie, they have not been shown acting as anything but awkward friends pretending to be more, yet she acts as if they were a happily married couple. Her way of behaving does not align with what we have been shown. This is where another of the remaining 4 members also disappears. She went out to stop the gf in front of the trailer, and that's the last we see of her. This budgetless movie ran out of budget for her. So out of the 4 people who were in the trailer, 2 are left.

A monster (which we are not shown) attacks the trailer with shrieks that sound like a dragon. It is ramming the trailer, but none of the 2 actors are willing to act as if they are losing balance while the whole trailer is shaking, so it's clear that it's only the camera shaking. Seriously, when you hear the sound and shaking, and then see both of them just standing there, next to the open trailer door that they aren't even trying to close, it just further takes you out of the experience.

The bashing and shrieking suddenly stops. What would you do in this situation? I would try to grab the keys for the car parked right in front of the trailer and attempt to get the heck out of there. What do the 2 in the trailer do? The guy doesn't close the door, locks it and tries to wait for sunrise. Nope, he walks through the door less than 30 seconds after that attack, to have a look around. Why? What would he get from knowing if it's still there or not? If it is, he probably dies, if not, he can't go look for his friends at night. He doesn't find anything in front of the door, turns his back towards the forest, and takes 3 long deep breaths, and then sees the painter from the vision on top of the trailer. He doesn't scream, or say anything, that's just it. The screen changes to the girl in the trailer. What has the girl in the trailer been doing this whole time? Well, a normal human being would stay in the back, at the door, and observe the one going out, as a lookout. What did she do? Nothing. She stared at a wall, so she didn't see anything happening to the guy who went out, 10 steps in front of the door. Then she goes out and goes around the trailer, in the dark, as if she didn't feel the trailer shake from something hitting it just 3 minutes ago. Why should she care, right? It's only her life that's on the line. If anything attacked her while she is on the opposite side of the trailer, she would die, but she doesn't care.

The movie ends. Doesn't matter how, it's bad. Oh and, supposedly this all happened over the course of 2 nights. None of the actors had a change of clothes from beginning to end of the movie. They have not been shown eating either. Why bother pretending that the day changed when everything was shot in one go?

I'm not even a movie buff to notice all these things. These mistakes pop out as you watch the movie and expect common sense!

Whoever gives this movie anything above a 2 has either not watched the movie, or hasn't watched a lot of movies at all.

This is one of the lowest quality movies I have seen in the last 4 years, and I'm not talking about the lack of money, but common sense.

Amateur time

Rachel and some friends take a camping trip to find out what happened to her uncle at lot 24. He mysteriously disappeared doing some research. All seems to go relatively well until the local sheriff comes to visit the friends. Information is exchanged about the missing relative and that's when the hi jinks kicks into high gear. The short run time does not save this movie in the least bit. The dialogue is atrocious which can also be said for the acting. Maybe the character Rachel was the better of the performers but not by much. Majority of the film takes place 3 scenes. Very amateur film. Beware the movie rating at the top of the page does not reflect what the real rating should be.
