Could have been good

The movie had the ingredients to create a good drama: a girl worrying about her career, a nasty would-be-sponsor, a love rival, a father-son incomprehension, etc.... Unfortunately, the script wanders around the issues, the characters are inconsistent and all dissolves into an end where meek people blend in a nirvana of senses. What could have been stimulating delivers sleep.

Idiotic. Really saying something considering the genre

Zero chemistry, the leads act like pre-teens, blowing off their jobs for ridiculous 'opportunities' that they couldn't possibly schedule for AFTER the current job was finished? A wicked witch type who turns out to be pretty incompetent at her job, replaces the lead at HER job, and the lead just accepts it?? Then a dopey father who plays games with his children vs. Just talking to them like the supposed adults they are.

The capper was the final end dance, where male lead got handsy with female lead. She's literally squirming to get him to move his hands. Classy actor, him...

Save yourself the trouble. Give this one a pass.

Movie gets better in second half

Struggling photographer, Lindsey, is hired for short notice wedding for a rich and famous family. The wedding planner hates her because apparently her talent is only average. The brides brother has an ex who manages to cause some trouble for Lindsey. Lindsey is now playing in the big leagues and she's in over her head. Money and power are hard to beat. But stick with the movie, the second half is more enjoyable than the first.

I have loved Emily Tennant in supporting roles and once wrote that I'd like to see her in a lead. Unfortunately her character isn't always appealing in this one. Lindsey's character is timid, indecisive, and lacks confidence.

This movie falls into the trap that some others do - it tried to do too much and the central romance suffered. There was barely enough screen time for any chemistry between Tennant and Tyler Johnston. At times it seems like the central focus of the movie is the Lindsey vs Bower-Smyth relationship. There certainly wasn't enough interaction between Josh and Lindsey to justify their actions later in the movie.

The dialog is flat. The overall acting is fair. The story wanders. There are some gags that are supposed to be funny, but they weren't for me.

On the positive side, the climax has a bit of a twist and continues strong to the end.

Some irrelevant observations: 1) Tennant plays a terrible photographer. She stands in one place and just takes the same shots. But she does keep both eyes open. 2) Finally a rom/com that shows at least a slight understanding of astronomy. Almost all of the others show the characters sitting in the middle of blinding lights and often looking through telescopes at large constellations or meteors. But they blow it in the golf course scene. Her camera is pointed about 10 degrees below horizontal to photo the meteors in the sky about the distant trees.
