Chick Flick

They just had to over do it. The basic plot was pity party enough. Just had to add the cute chick, slowly dying and scurrying around by dragging her legs behind her like a crippled puppy. Barf bags should have been furnished.

Reassessing life

Randall Batinkoff stars and directs 37 about a rock star who hooks up with Scottie Thompson after one of his concerts. He was impressed by her plea to security to get in and use the facilities. I've had those moments myself when you just can't wait, I'm sure we all have.

These two star crossed lovers each have a secret. Batinkoff has swore he will commit suicide on his 37th birthday which is in a matter of weeks. Thompson is dying of Lou Gehrig's disease and some early symptoms are manifesting themselves. The only difference is that Batinkoff's future is optional and Thompson's is mandatory.

When these two meet and form a relationship there is the opportunity to reassess life and craft an ending of sorts that's not available to most. Hardly an argument for suicide or fatal disease still it's true and these two get a chance to reassess life as they've led it themselves.

Elements of Evergreen are certainly here and going back a bit farther you classic movie fans might be reminded of the William Powell-Kay Francis film One Way Passage as well as its remake Till We Meet Again that starred Pat O'Brien and Merle Oberon. And we certainly can't forget Love Story.

If you're fans of any or all of the above cited films you might give 37 a look.

Straight to TV type

Very much similar to a Lifetime movie, however still watchable. Not by any means a great film but also not bad enough to turn off before it finishes.
