Not great

One of those British films amusingly pretending to be America. I have no problems with Kelly Reilly or Luke Evans, having liked them well enough in other fare, and they're the best elements of this surprisingly shallow and one-track thriller that fails to make much of its 'locked room' premise. Evans traps Reilly and the rest plays out via action and dialogue, but the dialogue isn't too intriguing and the action consists of repetitive fights. Not great.

A morality tale badly executed

10x10 is a ridiculous thriller masquerading as a morality tale.

Writer Noel Clarke tried to subvert elements of the abduction thriller but the script has not been thought through enough.

Robert Lewis (Luke Evans) has abducts Cathy Noland (Kelly Reilly) in a parking lot in broad daylight. She shouts for help but a passer by loading his car is wearing headphones and listening to music.

Robert seems to know a lot about Cathy, it looks he has been stalking her and has nefarious plans for her. Cathy is locked in a small padded soundproof hidden room in his post modern designed house.

Over time Robert repeatedly asks Cathy for her true identity. We later see Robert sadly looking at footage of a woman and child on a television screen.

It seems Cathy is someone who left her job as a nurse and started a new life. She is from a very religious family and has strong and twisted views on morality. Cathy has caused Robert loss because of her beliefs.

I was confused at first not knowing where the film was set. The external scenes were in the USA but it had British actors. The house is a well known design in Britain.

I had no idea what Robert's plan was about or whether it was coherent. What did he want from Cathy apart from a confession and then what?

Worse, Robert has a cleaner hanging about and a child who comes home at the wrong time. Was all this not anticipated?

Cathy is tough and resourceful. She bashes Robert several times, he injures her and both have amazing recuperative abilities.

This is a bottle thriller about guilt and revenge. There is not enough material here for a feature length movie, the violent finale is stupid and the message is lost.

I've been watching you.

Cathy Nolan (Kelly Reilly) a friendly woman who works at a flower shop, is abducted in an Atlanta parking lot and held captive in a padded room in a suburban home. We are given clues as to why Lewis (Luke Evans) kidnapped a woman who appears to be a stranger before it is explained.

Kelly Reilly gives us a gritty performance as the victim who just won't give up. Somewhat cliche but I liked the fight scenes.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity
